Peik Vähäjylkkä and Saara Kolehmainen

Phil Jurmu is a facility manager for an LLC. His responsibilities in America include oversight and general management of all LLC owned and operated facilities.

The primary focus of the position is to maintain the overall spiritual atmosphere at camps. In addition his focus is on the administration, operations, finances, and public relations of facilities. The Facilities Manager is the LLC liaison to all respective Camp Boards.

In June, Jurmu was in Finland with his wife, Sarah, and his youngest daughters, Janelle and Jessica, for just over two weeks. He taught at a confirmation camp in Maitoinen and also familiarized himself with other SRK camp centers and the Summer Services.

The trip began with a confirmation camp in Maitoinen.

– It was a joy to be here. It was nice to quickly make friends with the staff and confirmation students.

Jurmu felt that the confirmation students were very attentive during lessons, and the staff were encouraging in their work.

– Many confirmation students simply wanted to believe, which was very encouraging to see. I marvel at the power of the Holy Spirit, which unites the Kingdom of God wherever His people are.

He states that the camp experience was wonderful.

– Confirmation class is very familiar to confirmation schools in North America, he mentions.

After the confirmation camp, he visited Siikatörmä, the SRK Office and Hankasalmi, and spent Midsummer with his son's family.

– The trip has been really good. I've been warmly welcomed everywhere I've been, Jurmu says gratefully.

This was the first time Phil and Sarah Jurmu attended the SRK Summer Services.

– It was amazing to see so many people attending services. The organization for food and lodging in itself, is extraordinary, but more importantly, the message of salvation was preached and brought comfort and support for our endeavor of faith.

Before the trip, Phil Jurmu was a little worried, but he quickly realized there was no cause for concern.

– I quickly understood there was no need to worry. God takes care of everything.

They left Finland with many greetings.

– As we were leaving the Finnish summer services, it brought us great joy that so many people requested that we take their greetings of love and God's peace to North America. The bond of peace and unity between God's children is a great blessing
