Blog: A small angel above my head

We adults were a bit embarrassed and also looked out of the window. We saw neither an angel, nor any other flying creature. We were wondering if the child really saw an angel or just a bird.

I’m sure this will be OK. We will just do one month of distance schooling at home. No-one will need to repeat a grade, no-one will be seriously left behind in such a short time. Very good that none of our kids have any need for special support, and I only have five kids to keep an eye on. Some others will have a lot more to do.

During the exceptional spring of illness and lockdown, many people discovered the recreational value of nature. When you feel utterly exhausted, you can find rest and peace in the forest. I hope that, during the coronavirus pandemic, we learnt to regard nature as a significant source of wellbeing and to choose a more environmentally-friendly way of life.

I start writing this blog post halfway through the Epiphany services of Helsinki rauhanyhdistys. There was a discussion that made me want to write.

When I visited the Paris Disneyland in 1998, I went on a roller coaster ride that passed at high speed through a dark building with planets all around.

Few topics raise such strong emotions in the Conservative Laestadian community as do the caretaking meetings. All those who grew up within this community have heard the word – and I dare to say that most have heard it in a negative sense. How many of them, however, really know what this expression means? Do you know, for instance, why the caretaking practice started? I did not know before the summer of 2017, when I was able to discuss this topic with people who had personal experience of them.

Conflicts sometimes occur in family life. They do occur even when we love each other. Even when I would like to be good and loving toward the other person.

My dear godchild, I decided to write you a letter. I have been planning to write this letter for some time already. I would like to remember each of my godchildren like this. I was prompted to write a letter when I read an article about godparenthood in a magazine.

The sun is shining brightly and the glittering layer of fresh, white snow dazzles my eyes. Yet, only a moment later it seems like someone has switched off the light. Everything looks grey, and the air is full of snowflakes whirled about by wind.
